Syria Under Siege: Guarding Against Wolves in Sheep Clothing

Vanessa Beeley & Eva Bartlett vs. Ethical Journalism & Human Decency in the Age of Social Media Reporting

Syria is a cultural, ethnic and religious mosaic of a country with Sunnis, Shias, Druze, Christians. Additional ethnicities include Syrian Kurds, Turkmens, Armenians, Circassians, Turkmens, Greeks, Yezidis, and Shabaks.

Syria is a nation under siege with multiple forces involved, from many sides, by multiple factions and nations. We have Assad’s Forces, Syrian Kurds, FSA, Al-Nusra, ISIS, Al-Qaeda, Hezbollah, Ahrar ash-Sham, Faylaq Al-Sham. And we have multiple nations and their bases: Turkey, Iran, Russia, US-NATO, Israel.

With so many factions involved, so many divided geographical areas, and so many diverging foreign interests, how do journalists go about factual and unbiased reporting on Syria? How can this be done through ethical journalism, but most importantly with human decency? How can outsiders sift through information and misinformation bombardment, and detect facts versus agenda and biased-based reporting? Read more.

America's Guns: Secret Pipeline to Syria | People and Power

How has the international arms trade exacerbated conflict in the Middle East? People and Power investigates.

It's well known that the United States exports billions of dollars' worth of arms and ammunition to its allies. What isn't as widely understood is that many of the guns it supplies to "partner forces" fighting wars in the Middle East - particularly to rebels in Syria - are Soviet-style munitions such as RPGs and Kalashnikovs which are obtained from manufacturers in Bulgaria, Serbia and other Eastern European countries. The Coming Temple

Filmed in the Old City of Jerusalem, this ground-breaking documentary investigates the research of renowned Biblical archaeologists, Bob Cornuke, David Sielaff and Earnest L. Martin who claim that Solomon and Herod's Temples never stood on the Haram al Sharif, also known as the Temple Mount.

If they are right, then there is nothing to stop the Jewish people building their long awaited for Third Jewish Temple in the actual site where the Temples once stood. But is tradition too strong? We'll see.

The Blockchain and Us

2017

In 2008, Satoshi Nakamoto invented bitcoin and the blockchain. For the first time in history, his invention made it possible to send money around the globe without banks, governments or any other intermediaries. The concept of the blockchain isn’t very intuitive. But still, many people believe it is a game changer.

Economist and filmmaker Manuel Stagars portrays this exciting technology in interviews with software developers, cryptologists, researchers, entrepreneurs, consultants, VCs, authors, politicians, and futurists from the United States, Canada, Switzerland, the UK, and Australia.

The Blockchain and Us is no explainer video of the technology. It gives a view on the topic, makes it accessible and starts a conversation about its potential wider implications in a non-technical way.

The film deliberately poses more questions than it answers. For a deep dive, see all full-length interviews from the film here.
